Special Selections for International Students to the Undergraduate Programs at the University of Tsukuba

The University of Tsukuba will conduct a special selection for international students seeking to enroll in our undergraduate degree programs as regular (degree-seeking) students.
If you are interested, please request the application guidelines by filling out the online entry form linked below.
Note: Some academic programs may not be accepting applicants through this special admissions. Please check the details during the entry process.

1. Requesting Application Guidelines
Applicants must currently be enrolled or have been accepted (with an official letter of admission) as a regular student at a university in the US and must wish to obtain a degree from the University of Tsukuba.

Please also note the following:

(1) Upon admission, students are required to pay an admission fee of 282,000 JPY and an annual tuition fee of 535,800 JPY. These must be paid by the deadlines set by the University.

(2) Regarding residency status, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
Those who do not require a Japanese visa (e.g., Japanese nationals, dual nationals), or
Those who hold a valid Japanese visa status such as “Student,” “Dependent,” or “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services” and:
  -For September 2025 admission: Visa must be valid through or beyond August 31, 2025
  -For October 2025 admission: Visa must be valid through or beyond September 30, 2025
 *Note: Applicants must not have a period of over 3 months during which they did not engage in activities under their visa status without a valid reason.

2. Applicants for Programs Conducted in English (Including Transfer Students)
(For September or October 2025 Admission*)

Entry Period: Thursday, June 26 – Wednesday, July 2, 2025

(2) Application Submission Period
Submit your application documents online as instructed in the guidelines:

  – For programs starting in September 2025 (including transfer):
  Thursday, July 3 – Tuesday, July 8, 2025

  – For programs starting in October 2025:
  Monday, July 14 – Tuesday, July 22, 2025

*The admission month (September or October) varies by program. Please refer to the application guidelines for details.

3. Applicants for Programs Conducted in Japanese (October 2025 Admission, Including Transfer Students)
(1) Online Entry (Requesting the Application Guidelines)

  Entry Period: Tuesday, July 1 – Friday, July 11, 2025

(2) Application Submission Period
